Ajar

Privacy

Ajar collects nothing. There is no account, no server and no analytics, in the app, in the sign or on this site.

The app

Everything the app knows stays on your iPhone, in the app's own storage, and on your sign:

The app has no servers of its own and sends nothing anywhere. It has no analytics and no advertising, and its privacy manifest declares no collected data.

Permissions it asks for

The sign

The sign has no Wi-Fi, no internet connection and no account. It stores your name, status, note and settings in its own memory, and only a phone paired with it can change them.

The tap link

The sign's NFC chip holds a web address. With the tap link off, which is how every sign starts, that address is the home page of this site and carries nothing about you. If you turn the tap link on, the address carries your current status, and the return time unless you hide it, so a visitor who taps the sign sees them in their browser. The page draws what is in the address; this site keeps no record of statuses, signs or visitors. The link uses a random identifier for your sign, not your name.

This site

These pages set no cookies and run no analytics. They are served by Firebase Hosting, a Google service, which keeps the ordinary server logs any web host keeps, such as the address a request came from, under Google's privacy policy.

Crash reports

If you have chosen to share analytics with developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may pass crash reports to the developer without anything that identifies you. Ajar adds nothing to them.
